A Letter From Our Founders

As 2012 is now under way, Cy’s World Foundation would like to thank you all for your support and donations that have made the Foundation’s first year a success. We hope this letter finds you at the beginning of a joyful new year and we wish to share news of Cy’s World’s successes and aspirations.

The donations of many individuals have allowed us to raise funds for the Foundation. Our most generous gift being a Boston Whaler donated by the Christianson and Short families of Fayetteville, N.C. which allowed for a successful raffle. Various events benefited Cy’s World throughout North Carolina, including:

  • Cape Fear Sailfish Classic Tournament, Ocean Isle Beach
  • Cy Garber Blackfish Tournament, Harrells
  • Turkey Tee Off Golf Tournament at Cypress Lakes Golf Club, Fayetteville
  • Big Drum Fishing Tournament, Harker’s Island
  • Cy’s World Fishing Rodeo, Ocean Isle Beach

Dear Friends

Dear Friends,

On November 27, 2010, I lost my de facto little brother. While we didn’t have the same parents, we wouldn’t have been any closer if we did.  Edgar Clyde Garber, IV (Cy) was six years younger than me, but I learned some valuable things from him.  He never actually put these things into words like I’m about to, but I saw it in the way he lived and the things he loved. Turkey Tee Off Tournament

The Turkey Tee Off Tournament, held each year at Cypress Lakes, had an amazing gift of $3,500 for Cy’s World.

Many generous golfers bought raffle tickets, donated golf bags, Basketball tickets and other items to raise the most ever donated to a charity in the 20 plus year history of this event!

I remember just one short year ago speaking to Tom Prewitt about adding our foundation to his list of charities, but Wow, this is truly amazing. Thanks so much. – Bob Newell

Cy’s World: Flounder, Trout & Redfish Rodeo

A great big thanks to all who joined in for a fun time and a great cause when the first ever Cy Garber Fishing Rodeo was held at Ocean Isle, at Sharky’s Dock on Noveber 24th.

Over $350 dollars was raised from just 11 boats fishing, so that event will prove to be more beneficial in the years to come.: CysWorld.org is a nonprofit organization with focus on teaching, introducing, and compelling youth to enjoy outdoors safely, with conservation of natural resources and sustainable practices to insure these activities are here for others to enjoy for many generations.

NOVEMBER 24 – CYS WORLD FLOUNDER, TROUT, & REDFISH RODEO 2011

ENTRY FEE: Minimum donation of $50 per boat
CALCUTTA (tournament within a tournament): $50
BOUNDARIES: You may fish anywhere between Little River & Lockwood Folly, no ocean fishing.

Cape Fear Sailfish Classic Fishing Tournament
